Homeschool Art classes Resume September 5th-11am-12pm. This weekly art class explores the elements of art and principles of design through various mediums and projects. Payment is due by the first Thursday of the month for the month. If you plan to miss a class ahead of time we do not charge for that class. $15 per class School Aged children. Summer Classes and Events

Art Camps 

9th Annual Summer Art Camp for ages 6 and up.  Bring a drink and a lunch and dress for mess.

Session 1 July 8-12 from 10-1 $125

Session 2 July 15-19  from10-1 $125

Email us to register at barbedwirebrowns@gmail.com and we will respond with an online invoice. Your payment holds your child's place. This year we will have a variety of mediums, styles, and themes, to create multiple projects each day. We do not allow phones to be out during the camp.  

Adult and Multi-generational classes.  Children under 16 must have a paying adult participant.  

-Basic color theory in watercolors.  6/14 10-12 $40

-Painting a white object in watercolors  6/18 1-3pm $40

-Understanding basic flower shapes.  A Simple Approach to Fabulous Florals 6/21 10-12 $40

-*2 Classes for $75  "Some like it Hot"  Create a predominantly warm watercolor and "Cool Summer Art"  Create a cool watercolor. By taking these two-night classes you will really get a feel for color temperatures and the effects of color on our senses. 7/25 and 7/26 7-8:30pm

NOVEMBER 18TH AND 19TH IS THE ANNUAL LONGWOOD ART FESTIVAL.  WE WILL HAVE OUR USUAL BOOTH SPACE NEAR THE WILMA/BAY AVE. INTERSECTION.  OUR SHOP WILL BE OPEN AS WELL SO COME DO SOME HOLIDAY SHOPPING EARLY.

WE WILL HAVE AN OPEN STUDIO FROM 3-5PM ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 25.  THIS IS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CITY CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING AT 5:30 RIGHT IN OUR (ALMOST) BACKYARD.  COME OUT AND SUPPORT LOCAL ART AND EVENTS!

Homeschool Art Thursdays

Homeschool Art: Thursdays from 11-12pm school-aged students. We will learn about basic principles of art and design through weekly projects of various mediums. This will be a continuing class held monthly throughout the school year and can count as your homeschool art elective. Cost is $15 per person per day paid monthly. $60 September If this class has participants it will run through April and can be counted toward your homeschoolers art curriculumn. Summer Camps! July 10-14th and 17-21st

Summer art and craft camp ages 6-13 (we make exceptions, ask) July 10-14 or 17-21. Space for 14 participants max. and your payment holds your place! 10am -1pm. Lunch and art prize bingo are the last hour each day, Please bring your lunch and a drink,  Leave your phones off or put away the entire time. $100 per person with $10 off second, third....child.   As always if you want to join us, email barbedwirebrowns@gmail.com. We send you an invoice to pay at your convenience. Please tell us names and (kids) ages. No refunds offered for "day of class" cancellation. Sorry. We appreciate all the support from our community!

March and April Classes

Saturday March 18th: Paper Bead Workshop 1-3pm Ages 10 to adult. $15 per student. Come and learn how to roll recycled paper into your very own paper beads and string them into jewelry!

Friday March 31st: Kids Space Art 7-8pm. Ages 5-15. $15 per student. Come use sponges, balloons, toothbrushes and glitter to paint a fun outer space scene!

Friday April 7th, Good Friday Open House Drop in and paint a watercolor cross during holy week. Come by any time from 2 to 4 on good friday to paint a cross for free. All ages.

Friday April 21: Flower Drawing Workshop 1-3pm all ages $30 per student. Come and learn the drawing tecniques of shape and shading as we draw from flowers in the studio.

Ongoing Monday after School Drawing Class Meets most mondays at 4:30-5:30pm. A class for students 10 to adult who want to learn the discipline of drawing. We learn many different subject including animals, still lifes, faces and more. $15 per class. Come for just one or sign up for all the classes in a month by emailing barbedwirebrowns@gmail.com. The dates we will meet for drawing in March are the 20th and 27th. In April class will be held on the 3rd, 10th and 24th.

End of February Classes

FRIDAY FEB 17TH SPACE ART for kids ages 5 to 15. Come use sponges, splatterpaint and balloons to create a fun outer space painting! $15 per person.

SATURDAY THE 18TH REVERSE GLASS PAINTING for teens and adults. $35 per person. Come learn the historical art of reverse painting on glass. Used in the Byzantine Empire and in the folk art of many cultures around the world it is a proces where you layer up paint on the backside of glass starting with the paint you want to see on top, Then turn over the piece to view it through the glass.

MONDAY DRAWING CLASS FEB 20TH AND 27TH drawing lessons for students who want to pursue the discipline of drawing, ages 10 -adult. $15 per day.

January

Kids Canvas Painting Process Art, Sat 7th:

    Ages 5 to 15. 2-3pm, $15 per student. Come and paint process focused acrylic paintings along to the inspiration of classical music.   

 

Weekly Drawing Classes 4:30pm Mondays:

    Drawing lessons for students who want to pursue the discipline of drawing. Ages 10 and up. Bring an 8.5"x 11" drawing sketchbook, all other materials provided. Weekly lessons start January 9th. $15 per day, pay by the month. (you do not have to sign up for all sessions in a month, just reserve your spot with a paid invoice for the days you want to come ahead of time so we can plan for numbers.) Students will learn drawing from observation, shading, composition, and other techniques of drawing from a variety of subjects including still lives, plants, animal photography and more. 

Beginner Watercolor Workshop, Sat. Jan 21st 1-3pm:

    Come and paint a simple botanical watercolor for ultra beginners. Teen and Adult 30$ per student.

February

Continuation of weekly drawing Classes:

Saturday workshops 1-3pm ages teen and adult:

• Feb 4th: Jewelry Workshop, $30 per participant

         learn simple jewelry making techniques, earrings and knotted linen cord necklaces

• Feb 11th: Needle Felting Workshop, $35

       Needle felting uses a special needle to fuse fibers into a stiff form. Come learn the technique of needle felting with wool to make your own colorful pictures to take home. 

• Feb 18th: Reverse Glass Painting Workshop, $35

         Reverse painting is a process of of painting on a piece of glass then turning the glass and looking through it to view the painting. The things you paint on first will be the top visible layer of the finished painting. It was an art form used in icon painting of the Byzantine Empire, as folk art in Austria, Bavaria, Moravia, Bohemia, and Slovakia in the 19th century. It can also be found in traditions of Romania, China, Japan and India.

Learn the basics of drawing. We will draw animals; land and sea, and pumpkins for halloween! Bring a sketchbook. All other supplies provided. 45$ covers all three sessions which build on each other. 

Family Fun Night!

Friday, Oct. 21st. 7:00-8:30pm. Come make Owl themed art on dictionary pages! All ages. Bring the whole family and Grandma too! 16$ each. Light refreshments served.

 Beginner Friendly Fall Watercolor Class:

Saturday, Oct 29th, 10am-noon, teen-adult, $30 per person

Save The Dates! Elves Workshop:

Time for our best event of the year!  Three days of Elves Workshop on December 19, 20, and 21, from 10-2.  Bring a brown bag lunch and we will stay busy making truly awesome gifts for the holidays.  Everything is provided to keep your little elves busy creating one of a kind, awesome gifts!  This is a favorite event and space is limited so please sign up early.  School Age kids 6 and older please.  $35 per child per day.  We recommend coming all three days, but we will consider single day reservations.  Priority will go to three day sign ups first!  email barbedwirebrowns@gmail.com to sign up.  Include names and ages of kids.

This workshop introduces you to the art of reverse painting which was popular in the Byzantine Empire and and a folk art in many European countries. All supplies included.

Please keep in mind that we are a small local art studio.  Signing up in advance and paying online help us prepare and purchase materials for classes. October 30.   All hallows in Ole Longwood event- We will be open 10-5 and have a booth at the Bradlee McIntyre House which is the Longwood Historical Society Museum and is located behind our shop at 130 Warren Ave.  There will be vendors, Walking tours by City Officials, food and Drinks and Trick or Treating at Locals shops. 12-

 

 

November 12 - Yupo Night.  Yupo is a synthetic paper that has distinct differences from tree and plant-based papers.  It is waterproof, stain resistant, and extremely strong.  We will combine markers, watercolors and pencil on Yupo and experiment and explore its advantages and disadvantages.  This is not a formal class, and is extremely experimental.  Anything goes and no perfect products are expected!  Bring your sense of humor and leave home your expectations!  $10 each covers all supplies (a really great deal cause Yupo is expensive)  We have 14 spaces available but need you to sign up early so we can order the paper.  Simply email us Barbedwirebrowns@gmail.com

November 20 &21 Booth at the Longwood Fall Festival.  We will have a booth again near Wilma and Bay Ave as well as have the gallery shop open.  We look for a lot of community support during the holidays and this event starts off the season for us!  Stop by and encourage us friends!.  Well Red Designs and Care2Sew Quilts will be sharing our booth!  

December 4 -10-2 Is our annual Elves workshop.  This fast-moving workshop is all about making really awesome gifts for family and friends.  Kids 7-14 can come make unique gifts.  We encourage creating thoughtful and unique gift and being an active participant in the joy of giving! $30 per child.  Bring a brown bag lunch and a drink please. Homeschool Foundations or Art.  Weekly Art class that explores different mediums, elements of art, principles of design and a little art history too!  Thursdays 1-2.  This class will run through April.  You pay at the beginning of the month.  If you cannot attend a class, just let us know when you pay and we will subtract that week.  This class is designed to increase art appreciation and explore creative processes.
