And if you want to take in some history here’s a walking tour of buildings on the National Historic Registry https://www.historiclongwood.com/visit/
here’s a review of Historic Longwood in case you have never stopped there:
“This small historic town is very walkable. The historic homes, many of which have the dignity of names, are easily identified by metal plagues by the doors. The Bradlee-McIntyre house c1883 is a Museum, The Le Rue house, c1885 on Bay street houses Artisan studios and a gallery with local pottery, woodworking, jewelry and paintings. Down the street another historic home, the Inside-Out House is a long running boutique, a toy shop lays a few steps further and dolls in yet another quaint setting. Some other shops include The Wild Hare Organic grocery, Nu Natural with Bath and Body products, Clean Eats with grab and go Healthy Foods, Barbers, Coffee Bar and more. The smallness is the appeal here, A handful of shops, a nice walk, a picnic at the park and you have a lovely diversion for a few hours!
The newly renovated Reiter Park has many ammenities including a splash pad, walking trail, pond....and is a straight walk from the sunrail on Church Street, then three more historic streets parallel Church for you to meander along. Check he Historic Museum' hours to take a peek inside the Bradley- Macintyre House c 1883 and this town frequently closes the streets and hosts car shows, chili cookoffs, farmers markets and the highlight is a two day Fall Festival generally held the weekend before Thanksgiving. “

Why Art Matters- Part 1
You have heard the phrase "the art of__________". Lets fill in the blank with "the art of storytelling". We understand this to mean the storyteller has worked at his craft, he practices, he improves, it is an art form that requires effort on his part and is learned over time.
This can apply to whatever we set our hand to. The Art of it comes with practicing and considering how to do it well, to do it beautifully, in a way that benefits others and engages us. Dante made a point like this- Art is inherent in every true vocation. Creativity is at the essence of the human capacity to work, to be productive and to serve society.
Art classes, of course, give children space and tools to make art, to explore mediums, to learn a visual language, but even more is happening, it is space to practice creativity and decision making, it helps them express ideas, emotions, to have a deeper understanding of their world.
Art helps them think critically,to persevere through difficulties and practice resilience. Art helps kids learn from mistakes or disappointments and take a chance again and again, Children loose a sense of time when they create, they are fully present, which is crucial in a world of distraction. Make space for creativity in your home, in your school in your lives. It is such a important part of healthy living and work. Skills can be developed and success in art is a result of hard work and that is a great thing to learn young!
Think creativly through practicing art and let it spill over into every other area of your life too!
